Dean Burke has called Tacoma home for more than 30 years. By day, he serves as president and CEO of Visit Tacoma-Pierce County; year-round, he’s out on the water as a cofounder of the Seventy48 Race, paddling the sound he knows so well. His deep love for Tacoma—its people, its communities, and its ongoing environmental restoration—shows up in his art. Through striking underwater photography, Burke documents the healing and historical transformation of the southern reaches of the Salish Sea, capturing a one-of-a-kind view of an extraordinarily fragile world and our relationship to it.
