Event Details

Take a walk through Dune Peninsula Park to learn its remarkable story, including its connection to Tacoma author Frank Herbert. Transformed from an EPA Superfund site into a stunning waterfront landscape, the park is now a nationally acclaimed example of historic restoration. Claire Keller-Scholz, Parks Tacoma Historian, will be our guide as we explore the site’s environmental past, the current park design, the plant palette, wildlife in and around the park, and more. Photographers, enjoy! We will be on our feet for 90 minutes; the trail is mostly accessible, with some stairs/steep climbs. Meet at the Point Defiance Park end of the Wilson Way Pedestrian Bridge (West Access Point).

Ticket is non-refundable. Attendees must register and pay in advance to attend the workshop (no checks accepted and no “day-of” registration). If you register and cannot attend, it is your responsibility to find a replacement and to transact payment with that attendee). Processing fee is included.
